The Objective: Sustainable Business, that making money is no longer the sole goal of business. It is to provide customers with goods and services with the goal of making the world a better place. A better place doesn't sound much better. So, the better term is a Peaceful World.
Is it acheivable?: With the right mindset, whomever wants to can, but the problem is getting everyone to become selfless. Probably, unacheivable.
The problem: Getting everyone in the world to want to make the world a peaceful one. How can we do that?
By Environmental Laws for Businesses: in the process of being done by the EU; but if laws become too harsh, can bribery begin? Black markets, greasy money being exchanged?
That's why: laws are becoming only gradually harsher, but it could become too much?
What needs to be done: is to make it easier for businesses to be sustainable.
How to make them more sustainable?: Through technology. The government should subsidize companies that use sustainable technology and energy. It should also spend money on research. Researching and competing internationally in having sustainable technology and energy should become as important as the space race was about forty years back.
How, though?: Encouragement needs to be given. Education in schools need to be given so children are taught at a young age how important sustainable business is.
It is already a trend: which is good. But for the people, it needs to be more than publicity and green clothing.
Costs: costs of being environmentally friendly are high which causes many to not choose to be this way. That's why we need to get to the source of these costly eco-friendly goods. The root is of course the businesses. That's why a focus on sustainable business is key.
What is being done now: How effective is it? How many people are being reached? Are those who are touched by this taking action? How do we get those with power to take action? How do we get businesses to take action on their own? Would getting the government to reinforce sustainable business be the best idea?
Do some research: What is the market of environmental business like? The market of selling, producing, and using sustainable technology?
Objective again: We must make it the norm to use sustainable technology and energy.
Background: People are slowly becoming aware of the environmental crisis we are in. Are they taking any action?
Why do businesses not take action to be eco-friendly?: Examples are possible change of business culture, the way things have always been done in the company, high costs of being eco-friendly such as through pollution from toxins, burning of coal, high energy use
